Sprite Extractor Beta - New Features Update

Hi everyone,
Firstly I would like to thank everyone and anyone who has shown interest in my work. I really appreciate the support ❤.

I do not really know how many people actively use the Sprite Extractor Tool, but I have some news for those of you who do.

I have been working on improving some of the core functionality of the Sprite Extractor and I have added a new feature that may help some of you with extracting sub sprites from a fairly large sprite sheet.

For those of you who did not know, when using Unity's Sprite Editor to slice a sprite sheet that contains 1000+ sprites the Unity Editor starts working really hard. This is the main reason why I decided to add these new features to the Sprite Extractor.

These new features will allow you to overcome the requirement of using the Unity Sprite Editor to slice the sprite sheet when the sub sprites themselves are spaced out evenly and have the same width and height, which in return can easily be extracted using code.

At the moment this is very much experimental and I am currently busy adding these features as the days go by. However, I am posting a beta to what has been tested thus far.

There are few things you need to know before hand.
Your sprites need to be spaced out evenly and all your sub sprites need to have the same width and height. This is because, I assume your sprite sheet does not require you to use Unity's Sprite Editor to select a custom region within the sprite sheet.

Features that will be added at a later date:

  • Padding
  • Offset

Within this beta Unity Package I am using a sprite sheet of space ships created by David Bollinger's Pixel Space Ship generator. Thanks to him I can show off the new features.
